bamboo panels, 15mm thickness, vertical, caramel color, 3 layers.
Bamboo panel, 2440x1220x15mm, 3 cross-laminated layers, face and bottom layers are vertical grain, core is vertical grain.
Vertical grain is side-pressed style, bamboo strips are turned on their side, then laid next to one another. They are then glued and pressed together. Vertical offers a more uniform look than horizontal, and lacks the obviously visible nodes. Vertical boards give a much more linear look and are considered less durable than the layered, horizontal construction. This gives the floor more lines within the pattern, as well as a very consistent and even coloring.
Carbonized bamboo is darker amber and heat–treated color, is created when bamboo goes through its heating and pressurizing processes. During this process, the sugar content in the fibers darken from their natural shades to achieve a darker, coffee-colored tone.
Bamboo looks like wood, feels like wood, and cuts like wood. It even smells like wood. But bamboo is not wood, it is a fast-growing and sturdy tree-like grass, which is an environmentally friendly, renewable resource.
Bamboo panels have gained a lot of attention recently, especially among “green” building professionals and architects. Bamboo panels are multi-purpose building and decoration material because they are environmentally green, easy to mill, stable structure, adjustable dimension, consistent top quality, making it ideal for a wide range of uses including countertops, cabinets, desks, shelving, architectural panels, and much more.
Bamboo Panels Manufacturing Process:
Step 1: Treatment with bamboo strips. After harvesting, bamboo pole is cut into stalks and strips. All strips need be boiled in a water and boric acid solution. This removes sugars from the stalks which is necessary because sugars attract termites. This boiling process also stops the growth of fungus and mold. With few hours boiling, bamboo strips will be sent into dry kiln to get a very low moisture content - less than 10%, too wet strips are not possible for gluing and pressing.
Step 2: Laminated bamboo into boards. After well-processed for strips, bamboo will be glued with a urea-formaldehyde (UF) adhesive which emits very low volatile organic compound (VOC). Glued bamboo strips are laminated into layer of board by a 800-ton presser with hot steam. Multiple layers are formed to thick and suitable construction boards with a 1500-ton presser at cold condition, no steam, just static pressure.
Step 3: Sanding and cutting bamboo panels. Surface of bamboo boards are unsmooth after lamination, size of boards are imprecise. It takes twice sanding for both sides of every panel, first sanding is with 200 mesh paper and second is 120 mesh. All bamboo panels need be trimmed to ensure 4 sides are flat and square.
Bamboo Panels Application:
- Thickness of 40mm is best choice for making bamboo door, strong and safe enough.
- Thickness of 20mm and 30mm is thick enough for making bamboo stairs.
- Thickness of 15mm and 20mm is ideal and capable for making bamboo cabinet.
